About us

Hello & welcome to our blog.
Who we are Aditi & Nikhil
We are Aditi & Nikhil. We are the Confused Bawarchis. For our non-Indian friends, “Bawarchi” is Hindi for a rustic cook/ chef and that is what we think we are. But why “confused”? Many wonder. Of the many reasons, here are a few:

  • A is a step-by-step, organized and safe cook and N is throw-together-a-recipe, experimenting kind of cook
  • A is organized in the kitchen while N is not
  • N is a better cook whilst A is a better baker
  • N has always been a foodie but A has only become one in N’s company
  • A loves her baking pans and N loves his kitchen knives
  • N can have just about anything mashed up together but A likes to have tried, tested and defined dishes
  • N is a savory person and A loves all things sweet

This list, you guys, is getting longer.

I, Aditi, do the writing, some of the cooking, most of the baking and most of the photography for the blog and Nikhil or as I like to call him my “silent blogger husband”, does some of the cooking, some of the photography, technical troubleshooting, taste testing and most of the dishes. So together we, the Confused Bawarchis, love to travel, try new cuisines, cook, bake, share our stories and have fun.

What you’ll find on the blog
You’ll find a crazy variety of recipes from our kitchen- vegetarian, chicken, health food, desserts whether it be Indian, Mediterranean, Mexican, Italian, American and south Asian. What we cook and eat is what you see on the blog. We strive to eat healthier everyday although we do have our share of cravings for decadent desserts and fast food. Most of our recipes feed two hungry mouths, however the dessert recipes definitely feed more than two people. Sometimes we indulge in elaborate cooking and on other occasions just a quick fried rice does the trick for us. Hopefully, we’re able to inspire some of you to get out there and whip up some amazing meals!

What you’ll also find here are some restaurant reviews from our travels! We usually have a long list of places to eat at before we set off on any holiday- whether or not we accomplish eating at those places is a story for another day. Although we do occasionally eat at the over-hyped restaurants, what we really love is to hunt down the “hole-in-the-wall” eateries. In anticipation of a gastronomic fix, we don’t always get to click great food pictures but we do try and hopefully should be able to get the gist of things out to you.

Why we blog

So, with so many food blogs around these days are you thinking is this just another food blog?  Yes- fortunately or unfortunately this is yet another food blog but for us this is only a way to share stories from our kitchen and travels with our family & friends. We have made such great friends and met such awesome people through these 8 months of blogging that it is hard not to be out here.

Because we have no real ”expertise” in cooking, baking or food photography, we really hope that blogging about our attempts in the kitchen will provide you with a few interesting recipes and glimpses of occasional greatness.

So create, inspire, adventure, live, believe & enjoy!

Thank you for stopping by.

 Aditi & Nikhil

  24. Dear Nikhil and Aditi, I can now believe in the story about genes and habits passing down. I knew your dad Deepak from medical school days – and he surprised me with a birthday cake baked by him while I was admitted in the student ward! Knowing hardly anyone at that time in Bhopal, that gesture brought a flood into my eyes and a lump in my throat. And that bond still gets stronger. And now to know that both of you are also following the trend – that’s amazing!! Hope to see you people soon>

  25. All the best Aditi and Bhatts … good going!!! 🙂
Bhatts feels wonderful seeing you follow your dream … 🙂
